Today we joined local leaders in celebrating manufacturer RealWheels’ investment of $6 million in a 65,000 sq. ft. facility and new jobs in the City of Zion. Special thanks to RealWheels Founder & President Jan Polka and Vice President Sherri Polka for hosting the ribbon cutting, to State Representative Joyce Mason, Mayor Billy McKinney, Lake County Board Chair Sandy Hart, Lake County Board Member Gina Roberts and LCP Board of Governors Chair Steve Madden for speaking, and to Agnes Masnik for providing support. RealWheels is a true homegrown success story – the company was founded in the late 70s by Mr. Polka, who was then the owner/operator of a Kenworth truck and gravel trailer. With his wife Sherri, he went on to fabricate his own wheel covers from their home in Lake County. RealWheels has expanded locally several times over the years. Today, the company has over a dozen U.S. patents, employs 60 people and offers a catalog of products proudly made in the United States. RealWheels was able to leverage TIF, EDGE and Enterprise Zone incentives to finance the project.
