Employment Training Investment Program (ETIP)

To assist Illinois workforce in upgrading their skills with latest technology, State-Funded initiative awards grants to reimburse job training costs for their incumbent workforce.

Program Details
Program Description: The Employer Training Investment Program (ETIP) reimburses individual or muliti-companies for up to 50% of approved training costs. The actual percentage is determined by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity based on a number of factors, including wage level of trained employees, capital investment related to the project, whether the company is headquartered in Illinois, etc. Typically the amount approved has ranged between $250 and $750 per employee.
Eligibility:

Businesses of all sizes located in Illinois are eligible to make application if they are:

  • Expanding the business enterprise in Illinois:
  • Expanding into new markets;
  • Introducing new technologies or systems which will improve output per employee;
  • Training full-time Illinois employees (part-time, temporary or seasonal workers are not eligible);
  • Expanding exports from Illinois;
  • Providing additional training to employees who will be threatened with layoff.
Ineligible Projects (not all inclusive): Retail operations are not eligible to apply.
Term: Up to 10 years
Application Process: Applications are made to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and are accepted throughout the year. Funds are available to eligible applicants on a first come, first serve basis.
